This is too good to be true. GridCity is a fractal pattern generator producing beautiful moire interference textures in an art screensaver format. This screensaver has a very long history in its development and the first realisation of the visuals goes back to about 1983 when the algorithms were developed. It is abstract non-narrative art. The screensaver format is simply ideal for such things. I like to leave it running in a corner of a room and sometimes I watch it closely being amazed at the colours and textures it produces and other times it lulls me into near meditation. It is truly beautiful.

The demo is an executable which runs on a quarter of the screen for a few minutes.

And close-up it is stunning. Below are 8 sections taken from the screen illustrating some of the diverse textures created by this screensaver. There is an underlyiing algorithm creating a simple fractal grid pattern. By overlaying the pattern with differing origins and colour combinations a fractal moire effect is produced.
