Media Universe is a photo database that adds various new functions to Windows Explorer. It is used like the file manager, but offers a number of improvements like virtual categories, automatic picture downloading, photo CD support and networking. Unlike other programs, you don't have to start it, so it is always available when you use Windows Explorer. With Media Universe you are no more limited to the typical tree-like organization that you know from the file system. You can add one photo to many different categories, or aggregate files from various folders in a single category.
Use Media Universe to integrate data from different sources, such as photo CDs, digital cameras, USB devices and network computers in a single database. Add notes to any image or category. Organize your images by user and track CD loans automatically. Set cover images to any object in Media Universe for easier recognition. Email any selected pictures with two clicks and make your life easer by browsing large categories with the page navigator. The flexible search function finds words and phrases in the notes. Printing is based on the standard Windows Printing Wizard.
